Expert HR Advice for Your Business

From day-to-day people management queries to complex employee relations, get practical HR advice from CIPD-qualified consultants when you need it.

Why Every Business Needs Access to Good HR Advice

People problems do not wait for a convenient moment. A resignation lands on your desk on a Friday afternoon. A manager calls because an employee has just made a serious allegation. You need to change someone's contract terms and you are not sure if you can. These situations need a quick, confident response, and the wrong move can turn a manageable issue into a tribunal claim, a team meltdown, or a key person walking out the door.

Most small and medium-sized businesses do not have an in-house HR team, and they do not need one. What they do need is access to someone who understands employment law, knows what good practice looks like, and can give clear, practical guidance when it matters. That is exactly what we provide. Whether you need us once a year or once a week, we are here to help you manage your people properly.

At Rebox HR, we do not deal in generic templates or theoretical advice. We get to know your business, your team, and the way you work. When you call us with a question, we give you a straight answer that takes your specific circumstances into account. Our consultants have supported employers across dozens of industries and hundreds of different workplace situations. Whatever you are facing, we have almost certainly seen it before.

What We Cover

Practical, expert support across every aspect of hr advice for your business.

Day-to-Day HR Queries

Most HR questions are not dramatic. They are the practical, everyday issues that come up when you manage people: can I change an employee's shift pattern? What do I do about someone who is consistently underperforming? How much notice does this person need to give? We are on the end of the phone to answer these questions quickly and clearly, so you can get on with your day without second-guessing your decisions.

Employee Relations Support

When workplace relationships break down, things can escalate quickly. Whether you are dealing with a personality clash, a bullying allegation, a grievance, or a situation where trust has been lost, we help you manage the situation professionally. We advise on the right approach (formal or informal), support you through difficult conversations, and make sure the outcome is fair and documented. Our goal is always to resolve issues before they become tribunal claims.

Compliance and Risk Management

UK employment law changes regularly, and failing to keep up can be costly. We make sure your policies, contracts, and procedures reflect current legislation, including the Employment Rights Act 1996, the Equality Act 2010, and the latest updates to flexible working, holiday pay, and family leave entitlements. We proactively flag changes that affect your business so you are never caught out by a new regulation you did not know about.

Manager Coaching and Support

Your managers are on the front line of people management, but they may not have had any formal training in how to handle HR issues. We coach managers through difficult conversations, help them understand their responsibilities, and build their confidence so they can deal with issues early rather than letting them fester. Better-equipped managers mean fewer escalations, less risk, and a healthier workplace culture.

Strategic HR Guidance

HR advice is not just about putting out fires. As your business grows, you need to think about workforce planning, pay structures, performance frameworks, and how to retain your best people. We help you build the HR foundations that support your business goals, from designing an appraisal system to planning for succession. We bring the strategic thinking that larger companies get from an HR director, without the salary cost.

Absence and Performance Management

Persistent absence and underperformance are two of the most common issues employers struggle with. We help you set clear expectations, implement fair processes (including trigger points, return-to-work interviews, and performance improvement plans), and manage cases through to resolution. Whether the outcome is improved performance or a fair exit, we make sure you handle it properly and protect your business throughout.

How We Help

A clear, structured approach from start to finish.

1

Get in Touch

Call us, email us, or book a free consultation online. Tell us what you are dealing with, or what kind of HR support you are looking for. There is no obligation, no pressure, and no charge for the initial conversation. We will listen, ask the right questions, and explain how we can help.

2

Receive Expert Guidance

We give you clear, practical advice tailored to your specific situation. No jargon, no vague pointers to legislation, just a straight answer and a clear plan of action. If the situation needs documentation, letters, or policy updates, we prepare those for you too.

3

Move Forward With Confidence

With the right advice in hand, you can make decisions confidently, knowing they are legally sound and practically sensible. We stay available for follow-up questions and ongoing support, whether that is on an ad-hoc basis or as part of a retained HR package.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of HR advice do you provide?

We cover the full range of HR issues that employers face. That includes contracts of employment, disciplinary and grievance procedures, absence management, performance management, redundancy, TUPE, recruitment, flexible working requests, family leave (maternity, paternity, shared parental leave), workplace investigations, settlement agreements, and general people management queries. If you are not sure whether your question falls within our scope, call us and we will let you know.

How quickly can I get advice?

Our retained clients have access to same-day telephone and email support. For ad-hoc clients, we aim to respond within one working day, though urgent situations are prioritised. If you call us with an issue that needs immediate attention, such as a serious misconduct allegation or a resignation you were not expecting, we will make time to speak with you that day wherever possible.

Do I need a retainer or can I use you on an ad-hoc basis?

Both options are available. Our ad-hoc HR service lets you access expert advice on a pay-as-you-go basis, with no retainer and no long-term commitment. You only pay for the time you use. If you find yourself calling us regularly, our retained HR support packages offer better value with a fixed monthly fee that includes unlimited telephone and email advice, plus a set number of project hours each month.

What qualifications do your HR consultants have?

Our team are CIPD-qualified (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) and have extensive practical experience supporting employers across a wide range of industries. CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development in the UK. Our qualifications are backed by years of hands-on experience managing real workplace situations, not just textbook knowledge.

Can you help us with HR even though we are a very small business?

Absolutely. In fact, small businesses are exactly who we work with most. Whether you have two employees or two hundred, you have the same legal obligations as an employer, and the same exposure to risk if things go wrong. We scale our support to match your needs. Many of our smallest clients started by calling us with a single question and now use us as their outsourced HR department.

What is the difference between HR advice and legal advice?

HR advice is practical guidance on how to manage people and workplace situations in line with employment law and good practice. Legal advice is formal advice on the interpretation of law, typically provided by a solicitor, and is protected by legal privilege. We provide HR advice grounded in current legislation, but we are not a law firm and do not provide legal representation. For matters that require formal legal advice, such as tribunal representation, we can refer you to trusted employment law solicitors.

Do you only advise on problems, or can you help with proactive HR?

Both. While many clients first contact us when they have an issue to resolve, a significant part of our work is proactive. We help employers build solid HR foundations: writing contracts and policies, designing appraisal systems, creating employee handbooks, running management training, and advising on pay and benefits strategy. Getting these things right upfront prevents most of the problems that other employers end up calling us about reactively.

How is your HR advice different from using an online HR platform?

Online HR platforms provide generic templates, document libraries, and automated workflows. They can be useful tools, but they cannot assess the specific nuances of your situation, tell you when a template does not fit, or talk you through a difficult conversation with a real person on the other end. Our advice is personal, specific to your circumstances, and delivered by experienced HR professionals who understand the practical reality of managing people in a small business. We also offer Breathe HR software to our clients for the admin side of HR, giving you the best of both worlds.

Working with Natalie has been great. As a small charity growing to medium sized, we just don't have the in house HR expertise required for the trickier bits. Natalie has been able to lean in when required to advise and facilitate in areas where we could have easily miss-stepped our way through without her help.
